Alternative Education Resource Organization (AERO), a 60 year-old non-profit organization, publishes the Handbook of Alternative Education and the Almanac of Education Choices, listing over 7,500 educational alternatives in the United States and abroad.

Through its two directories, AERO-GRAMME newsletter, Internet presence and web site, the organization has become the primary hub of communications in the alternative education movement.

This is the first mailing list to contain all known educational alternatives. The list includes all the Montessori, Waldorf, Quaker, and independent alternatives, over 500 homeschool groups, thousands of public alternatives, both choice and at-risk, including charter schools, and magnet schools, and over 200 resources.

These are intelligent educators and educational institutions committed to changing education to a more holistic and empowering form, and to helping individuals and organizations to start new community public and private schools.
